Technology

We currently program in PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) and ASP.NET (Active Server Pages, .NET framework). PHP is a very powerful, widely-used open source server-side scripting language that can be used for a multitude of things from automatically generating thumbnail images from uploaded larger pictures to running an Ecommerce shopping cart system and processing credit card payments. Open source means it is licensed under the GNU General Public License. This has the advantage of being free to use and does not incur any hidden costs for either us or you. PHP is an evolving language and as such is it only your imagination that limits what it can do

Where PHP is an Open Source interpreted scripting languages ASP.NET is a compiled framework from Microsoft. This means, firstly, that Websites written with ASP.NET can only work on Windows Servers running IIS. It also means there is a vast amount of support for ASP.NET, with its own set of controls that allows event driven programming with very little code.

We are able to utilise both technologies to develop your website and the choice of which one to use will ultimately depend upon the requirements of the application.
